چکیده

Early diagnosis and surgical correction is highly important for survival. In the evaluation of TAPVC, imaging methods have been used. Recent advances Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) is a rare congenital cardiac anomaly in which the pulmonary veins fail to connect with the left atrium and connect directly to the right atrium or to one of the systemic veins. Early diagnosis and surgical correction is highly important for survival. In the evaluation of TAPVC, imaging methods such as echocardiography, computed tomography (CT) angiography, magnetic resonance (MR) angiography, and catheter angiography have been used. We reported a rare case of infracardiac type of TAPVC draining into the portal vein at 2-mounth-old infant who was admitted to the hospital with shortness of breath and mild cyanosis. The images demonstrating TAPVC between the portal vein and the pulmonary veins with multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) angiography were also shown. (Hong Kong j.emerg.med. 2011;18:331-334)

Computed tomography features of supracardiac total anomalous pulmonary venous connection in an infant

Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) is a rare congenital anomaly of the pulmonary veins drainage. In this entity, the pulmonary veins, instead of draining to left atrium, connect abnormally to the systemic venous circulation. A right-to-left shunt is obligatory for survival. Based on its type and degree of pulmonary venous obstruction, TAPVC may result in pulmonary hypertension ...

Multiple anomalous left pulmonary venous connections detected with transthoracic echocardiography

Partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection is a rare congenital anomaly in which one or more pulmonary veins are connected to the venous circulation. The condition is frequently misdiagnosed, and usually identified by transesophageal echocardiography or invasive cardiac catheterization. We present the case of a 26-year-old female with new onset dyspnea on exertion who was diagnosed with the ...

Multidetector-row computed tomography angiography for the diagnosis of anomalous pulmonary venous drainage: an initial experiment* Angiotomografia com múltiplos detectores no diagnóstico de drenagem venosa pulmonar anômala: experiência inicial

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to determine if multidetector-row computed tomography angiography is an effective and non-invasive method for diagnosing anomalous pulmonary venous drainage. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We performed a retrospective review of 2905 cases from July 2003 to November 2007 in which cardiac multidetector-row computed tomography was used. Of the cases, 393 evaluated congenital cardiopath...

Infracardiac type total anomalous pulmonary venous return with obstruction and dilatation of portal vein

Total anomalous pulmonary venous return (TAPVR), also known as total anomalous pulmonary venous connection, is a congenital cardiovascular malformation that presents itself in the neonatal period, with cyanosis and tachypnea. There are 4 types of TAPVR with the mixed type being the least common. Any type of TAPVR may be associated with obstruction as result of flow redirection through the liver...

Interrupted inferior vena cava and partial anomalous pulmonary venous return with atrial septal defect in a 38-year-old adult: a case report

We present a woman having congenital anomalies of the inferior vena cava and partial anomalous pulmonary venous return from the right lung with atrial septal defect in a 38-year-old. Congenital anomalies of inferior vena cava are rare. They are seen more often in young males. If there are not other anomalies, they are latent for a long time. Peripheral venous thrombosis, chronic venous insuffic...
